Katarina Wit started skating when she was five. Then, her talent became evident, and in Karl-Marx-Stadt she entered an institution specifically designed for children who have athletic talents. At this school, she was introduced to the trainer Jutta Muler. Witt finished second at the World Championships of Copenhagen in 1982. This marked her debut. In the years since, Witt's grace and beauty have captured the interest of all. Olympic triumph Katarina Wit was awarded gold medals in ice skating for women during Sarajevo Winter Games 1984.
